Morrisonite
Morrisonite

This cabochon was cut from the heel end of a rock; I bought it thinking it was Bruneau Jasper, but as I took off the matrix and shaped it, it revealed itself to be Morrisonite instead! No, I wasn't disappointed! From the "shattered glass" pattern at lower right (which was the end of the rock) to the pale blue areas at the top, this is a very nice example. There is a tiny chip on the back edge, not visible from the front, along a sealed fracture. I yanked and pulled at the cab, and it's stable.

Dimensions: 32mm x 28mm x 7mm.  Weight: 43.30 carats.

MOR016 - $22.00
