This is Chrysocolla & Cuprite from Mexico, collected by Benny Fenn. The Cuprite is slightly harder than the surrounding Chrysocolla and takes a higher polish. The Cuprite in this freeform cabochon is sparse, and very dark red, almost black. The fracture at the bottom is stable. Dimensions: 42mm x 15mm x 6.5mm. Weight: 30.60 carats. |
